Carbonara

carbonara
Carbonara is one of the more popular pasta dishes found on pub menus. This tasty dish is a cream based sauce containing eggs, cream and bacon or sometimes pancetta and some cheeses mixed through pasta. The pasta is usually either a spaghetti variety or the flat ribbon like fettuccine although other varieties are common. The dish is popular worldwide and has a few variations, in the USA the Carbonara is sometimes known as ‘Coal Miner Spaghetti’ as it was believed to have originated from a dish served to coal miners in Italy, but others say it was invented in the Italian town of Rimini as a meal for the US World War II troops.
