The Steak Sandwich

steak sangaThe steak sandwich has been a favourite on Pub menus for decades and is as popular today as it has ever been. Over recent years the sandwich has gone up market a bit, rarely do you see the plain white toast and simple lettuce, tomato and onion. Today you see gourmet buns and breads and some very tasty fillings- Chutneys, special sauces, gourmet salad items like specialty lettuce, exotic tomatoes, and of course crisp bacon and fried eggs and melted cheese. The steak sandwich is usually served with a side of chips or wedges making it a hearty meal.
