The Great Western Hotel

Dating back to 1862, the Great Western Hotel in Rockhampton has become one of Queensland’s iconic hotels. From the outside at a quick glance this fantastic venue may look just like another classic Queensland pub, but take a closer look and you will see this is quite a large venue. One clue to what lies behind the old world facade is the cow statue who resides on top of iconic Queensland veranda. To the rear of the hotel is a large semi covered arena that is home to regular demonstrations, rodeos, cattle sales and live music. With tiered seating for around 2000 people the rodeo events has become popular with both locals and tourists.
